2012 Metro Boston Navy Girls: A Team to Lookout for this Season
The Team
Our 2012 MB Navy Girls team has had a stellar start to the season in their Fall Season. Over our Labor Day Weekend tournament, they were able to win their bracket amongst some stiff competition.
This past weekend in league play they were victorious against Scorpions 5-1. They love to utilize the wide areas when attacking and look for 1v1 situations in order to get crosses in and ultimately score goals. This strategy proved effective in the past game and hopefully it will continue to reap rewards throughout the fall.
The style of play at New England Surf is one of playing out of the back and being on the front foot in an attacking sense. This reigns true for our 2012 Metro Boston Navy Girls side as well. In training this week, their topic is; playing out of the back with a GK. This should further enhance their ability to do so and continue to give New England Surf a great soccer reputation.
The Coaches
Jonny Bonner: A top quality coach and shown that over the past year with New England Surf. Coaching 2 state teams (2009 & 2010 Navy) as well as our team of the week; 2012 Metro Boston Navy Girls. His stellar work ethic and passion for the game has also provided him with the opportunity of becoming our very own Performance Academy Director as well as our Assistant Girls Director.
Upcoming Fall
Their goal for the upcoming year is to have lots of fun and develop with coach Jonny throughout the year. On top of that, they are aiming to challenge for the league title in the NECSL as they look to build on a great start to the season.
