Fall League Preview
New England Surf are excited for the start of an exciting Fall season this weekend, with teams competing in the NECSL, DPL and USYS National League.
Jake Beverlin, Boys DOC, said, “We have a great community of coaches, players, and families within the NE Surf State Boys. We have a lot of very strong teams and I am particularly looking forward to watching the progress of the 2010 age group, coached by UMass Boston Assistant, Marcelo Cunha.”
Our State Girls Team Program comes from a fantastic 2021-22 Season, winning our first National Championship with the State Girls 2007. “We are really excited to embark on a new season. There is no doubt that last year was a huge benchmark for the New England Surf State Girls program, winning four state championships and securing our first National Championship. The challenge is to improve on that success, and we are ready to reach even greater heights in 2022/23. This Fall, we should keep an eye on all of the 2011 age group, which is set to be one of the most talented and deepest age groups within the club.”
We delved deeper into the NE Surf regional programs to find out what areas they are looking forward to for the upcoming fall season.
Paul Erne, who is stepping into the Regional Manager role in the Metro Boston Region, has some clear goals for the upcoming year: “We are delighted to see the Metro Boston region continue to grow and we have been able to achieve success on and off the field and develop all of our players to reach higher levels of play. We look forward to another enjoyable year in the NECSL. I am excited for all of our teams and will keep a special lookout for our 2013 girls age group”.
The New England Surf City Program is ready to kick off their competitive season. “We are excited to get the season underway with our new training location at Roxbury Latin for the City South program and our Jr Academy at Legion Field in East Boston to continue our presence and commitment to the City of Boston.” City Regional Manager, Jake Beverlin, said. Jake is particularly interested in following the performance of the 2011 Girls age group, coached by Cristian Suvak and Estive Sosa.
Metro South is the newest region in the NE Surf program, led by Regional Manager Rob Speed. Three tournament championships in pre-season are a very good omen for the Fall Season. “It has been a bright start for our new Metro South region! Success in our pre-season events has given everyone optimism for this year. The high level of performance both on the training field and in games has been amazing to see, and we can’t wait to see what our teams will accomplish this season, in particular our 2013 Metro South Navy Girls team.”
Lastly, we look at the Metro West & Metro regions, where our experienced regional manager Luke Rothero commented “We have a few new groups that can’t wait to compete and be challenged in the NECSL. We feel that we have built some strong rosters, with a devoted coaching staff, and that this Fall season will be fun!”. Our Metro region is a combined effort between Metro Boston and Metro West, training out of the Cambridge School of Weston.
