National League P.R.O Weekend 2 Recap
Our 2008 State Navy girls travelled to the Championsgate Sports Complex in Florida for their second round of the USYS National League P.R.O, after coming off of an undefeated weekend the first time around.
Our girls knew that they needed just one win to secure a third-place finish in their bracket, which would be enough to clinch their spot in the USYS National Finals this summer. Their first matchup was arguably their best of the campaign, beating BFC Premier (Mississippi) 9-0 in an absolutely dominating performance, and punching their ticket to the National Championships.
After their decisive win on Friday, it was important that our girls maintained their level in order to win the group. Their second matchup of the weekend saw them take on PSA North NL Orange from New Jersey. Our girls in blue immediately picked up where they left off, putting another nine goals past their opponent and displaying an impressive brand of soccer to go 2-0 for the weekend, with 18 goals scored and 0 against.
Their third and final game of the weekend was against YMS Premier Spirit out of Pennsylvania, which proved to be one of their toughest matches of the campaign. After a hard fought battle, our 08 Navy girls managed to find the back of the net three times, giving them their third win of the weekend and their seventh win of the tournament. Their final record was 7 wins, 0 losses, with a goal differential of +37.
Our 2008 State Navy girls will return to Florida in July of 2022 to compete in the USYS National Finals. “I am very proud of how consistent our girls have been throughout this event. They remained level-headed and focused on achieving our team objective of qualifying for the National Finals, and we did that. We also had plenty of individual players who stood out as leaders both on and off the field. Overall, it was a very positive experience for the team and we look forward to carrying this momentum moving forward”, said Coach Andy.
We are so proud of you, girls!
